Michael Nixon, Esq. is the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging at Beacon Health System, where he leads organizational DEI strategies. Previously, he served as Vice President for University Culture and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer at Andrews University, providing leadership for equity and diversity programs. He has also been a Seed Investor for COMMUNITYx, a social impact tech startup, and a Legal Coordinator and Attorney at the Fair Housing Justice Center. Earlier in his career, Michael was a Law Clerk at Ed Fox & Associates and held roles at The John Marshall Fair Housing Legal Clinic, State Representative Ann Williams Office, The John Marshall Law School, and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago).

Michael studied history at Universidad Adventista de las Antillas (2005-06), studied Pre-Law Studies at Oakwood University (2006-07), and earned a B.S. in Political Science from Andrews University (2007-2009). In 2010 he began law school at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, obtaining his Jurisprudence Doctorate (J.D.) degree in 2013. He pursued further education at the University of Kentucky, completing a PhD in Studies in Higher Education, specializing in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (2021-2025).

He holds a New York State Bar certification (2014) and a Senior Diversity Officer Leadership Graduate Certificate from the University of Kentucky (2022).
