How It Works

Timeline

February 10 – Registration Opens

Registered teams are granted access to case materials and instructions immediately upon registration. Thay also have access to asynchronous, online resources via the competition website to prepare for the competition. In-person workshops, faculty coaching and office hours may be available.

March 8 – Registration Closes

All teams must be registered by 11:59 pm ET. Any teams not fully registered by this time will be ineligible for the competition.

March 17-21 – Office Hours with Experts

Office hours will be offered by industry experts, sponsors and/or faculty, allowing teams to ask questions and gain feedback on proposed solutions.

March 21 – Deadline for Preliminary Round Submissions

The final deliverable for the preliminary round is a 10-12 page slide deck and 3-minute video pitch. Each written submission will be reviewed and scored by a committee of faculty, staff and alumni of the University of Notre Dame using a detailed rubric.

April 1 – Finalists Announced

The top three undergraduate teams and top three graduate teams from the preliminary round will be announced. These six teams will advance to the final round and receive instructions on their next deliverable.

April 9 – Pitch Practice Dinner

The six teams advancing to the final round will be invited to practice their presentations with a mock judging panel to get feedback on content, presentation skills and general professionalism. A celebratory dinner with faculty, staff and mock judges will follow.

April 11 – Final Round Presentations

Only the top three undergraduate teams and the top three graduate teams will participate in this final round.

All six teams will make oral presentations of their slide deck from the preliminary round. Oral presentations should be 8 minutes long, followed by 4 minutes for questions from judges and the audience. Business formal attire is expected.

Live presentations will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of competition sponsors and leadership at the University of Notre Dame. Prizes will be announced.

After the awards presentation, participants will have the opportunity to network with the Notre Dame community and competition sponsors over lunch.

Cash Prizes

Graduate Track

  • 1st place team: $10,000

  • 2nd place team: $5,000

  • 3rd place team: $2,500

Undergraduate Track

  • 1st place team: $10,000

  • 2nd place team: $5,000

  • 3rd place team: $2,500

Prizes and awards are treated as taxable income and recipients should consult a tax professional regarding proper reporting. University policies on Gifts, Prizes and Awards and Student Travel and Reimbursements Taxability may also be consulted.

Rules

  • The competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Notre Dame.

  • Each team must consist of two, three or four students. Individual entries or groups of more than four members are not permitted. 

  • At least one student on each team must be a student in the Mendoza College of Business.

  • All teams must be registered by the registration deadline.

  • Changes to team composition after registration are not permitted.

  • All team members must participate in the presentation and/or Q&A section of all rounds for which their team qualifies. 

  • Registered teams are granted access to case materials and instructions immediately upon registration.

  • Students are permitted to use any publicly available materials, data or other resources.

  • All copyright laws must be followed. Referenced materials must be appropriately disclosed per the University of Notre Dame’s Copyright Policies and Guidelines

  • The use of Artificial Intelligence is permitted, but must be appropriately disclosed per the University of Notre Dame’s AI Policies and Guidelines
